With thousands of prescription drugs currently on the market and more in the pipeline we have decided to add drugs and drug information to this site based on severity of side effects, seriousness of FDA warnings, frequency of prescribing, amount of advertising, size of the market and gross dollar amount in drug sales. This site is about prescription drug problems not just about prescription drugs. The most important thing to think about when "asking your doctor about" a drug or allowing yourself to be prescribed one is, "Is the benefit worth the risk?" Especially with blockbuster drugs such as antipsychotics, antidepressants, and lipid regulators (cholesterol lowering drugs) and of course any having to do with sex, the benefits are the subject of massive direct to consumer, detailing to doctor, "grass root groups" and continuing education marketing campaigns. We feel the risks should have a voice as well. One of the purposes of this site is to acquaint people with these risks. The intention is not to scare anyone away from taking a drug they really need. The purpose is more to arm that person with the information needed to make a wise and educated judgment about when they should perhaps get a second or third opinion about the drugs they are being prescribed and to help people gain more control over their own health. You will notice sometimes a drug is listed in more than one category. This is because whether it makes logical sense or not pharmaceutical drugs can sometimes be prescribed for a wide variety of very different reasons and to treat disrelated conditions. We have tried to put the drug in the categories where you will be most likely to look for it. Click on a Category Below Mood and Behavior Drugs (Psychiatric Medications)
